My art journey started several years ago. My instructional art included New Brunswick Teachers College, where my selective was Art. I also enrolled in Graphic Arts in the Nova Scotia Community College for two years.
It was not until I retired and was able to set up an art studio in my home, that I started to paint. The love for realism is my focus and I try to bring to the viewer that moment why I decided to pick that subject.
I have experimented with various mediums; acrylics and water colours, but now I work with Prismacoloured pencils. The tool works best for me in defining the detail characteristic of my pieces. I like these pencils for colour blending almost giving a watercolour effect. It demands patience, time and the love in producing the "snapshot". My subjects will seem familiar to everyone in some way....the puppy....the walk down a trail....tomatoes from a garden.
To me art is an exciting process from the very beginning; deciding on the subject that jumps out at me; to deciding the perfect composition, colours and making it real to the viewer. ..a SNAPSHOT.
I am a member of several Art Associations and enter my art works in various venues . Winning a couple of first place prizes in 2016 was rewarding.
You can view my art at Indigo Blues Cafe, Water Street in Pictou.
